Freelance DSE Ergonomic Assessor (Neurodiversity-Informed)
Inspired Ergonomics Ltd | Freelance / IR35 Compliant | UK-wide (Remote & In-Person)
About Us
Inspired Ergonomics is an ergonomics consultancy delivering workplace assessments and support across the UK and internationally. We work with organisations to create healthier, more inclusive workplaces and we’re growing our team of freelance assessors to meet demand for high-quality, ergonomically focused, people-centred DSE workstation assessments.
The Role
We’re looking for a DSE Ergonomic Assessor who is genuinely neurodiversity-informed and brings real, practical experience of supporting neurodivergent people in the workplace. This isn’t a checkbox exercise, we are looking for someone who understands that a good assessment and well written report goes beyond desk height and screen distance, and who can identify and recommend adjustments that make a tangible difference for neurodivergent employees.
You’ll carry out DSE and workplace needs assessments (remote and in-person), produce clear and actionable reports based on our unique templates, and work collaboratively with our small, supportive core team. You’ll also be trained to contribute to our assessment platform rota, providing triage support to our clients using the self-assessment platform and helping keep our systems running smoothly for the wider team.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from professionals with any combination of professional backgrounds including:
- Ergonomists
- Physio Ergonomists
- Workplace Needs Assessors
- Occupational Health Assessors
- Access to Work Needs Assessors
We value demonstrable experience above formal qualifications.
If you can show us real experience assessing and supporting neurodivergent individuals in workplace settings, we want to hear from you, regardless of your exact professional title or route into the field.
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. ACPOHE, IOSH, CIEHF, HCPC, CSP) is desirable and tells us a lot about you, but is not essential.
What You’ll Need
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience conducting workplace or DSE assessments with examples of reports.
- Strong, genuine understanding of neurodiversity in the workplace (e.g. ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia) and how it affects work, environment, and reasonable adjustments
- Excellent written communication skills. We pride ourselves on the quality of our reports, so you must be able to produce clear, practical and accurate assessment reports
- Ability to build rapport quickly and put assessees at ease
- Own equipment and means of remote working
- Willingness to travel for in-person assessments
- Comfortable working as a freelancer within IR35-compliant arrangements
- Confident using database and SharePoint systems, and willing to take a rotational role in managing our assessment platform
What We Offer
- Freelance engagement, fully IR35 compliant
- Ongoing training and professional development support
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- Travel expenses covered for in-person assessments and training
- A supportive, friendly team that values your expertise
- Flexible, assessment-based working allowing you to fit the work around your schedule
How to Apply
Please send your CV along with a short covering note outlining your relevant experience, particularly your experience working with neurodivergent individuals in a workplace or assessment context.
