Sit up and at right angles! We are all aware of this image! It is everywhere. Just Google clip art or stock images for ergonomics and there it is! As an illustration it has one major problem. It is 2-dimensional. It is a moment captured, it doesn’t exist within the context of time. It is not part of a transitioning work mode.
So what happens. People see this reference posture, and even if it was completely correct (which it isn’t) it is just a snapshot description of a recommended posture and they adopt it. Not for a moment, not even for 10 minutes but ALL DAY! Then they say ‘It still hurts’. Indeed being still does! For we are not designed to be the same one posture all day. I see people who have a complete disconnect between their mind and body. People working in roles that don’t require their body to play a part. They sit or stand still, clicking their mouse and tapping away. These people lose the ability to understand what their body and mind need.
Our holistic approach helps people understand this relationship again and rather than acting on instructions pinned to a wall, we empower your people to understand what helps them. Including how they can apply the science of good ergonomic principles to maintain health and wellbeing. Listening to your own body’s needs is paramount, everyone’s own road map to recovery is different.
